As we are getting close to the end of another year, we like to look back at some of the most interesting health care discoveries of 2009:

1) Lithium in the Water Supply: Japanese researchers have identified some communities where higher trace levels of lithium were associated with a lower suicide rate.

2) Thirdhand Smoke: Many parents who light up are aware of the dangers of secondhand smoke; they blow it out the window or smoke at home only when the kids are not there. But people rarely understand the risk of third hand smoke.

3) Treating P.T.S.D. With Tetris
Whether it's caused by a car accident, an assault, or on the battlefield,
post- traumatic stress disorder can result in vivid, incapacitating flashbacks of the traumatic moment. This year, a group of British scientists a new therapy...playing the video game Tetris.
